Delayed

Sorry for the delay in updates. Took a nice relaxing weekend with Ed. Christmas was a VERY lazy day - we did not even get out of bed until 10:30am! We had a nice pancake breakfast and then for dinner I roasted prime rib. It was a new adventure and turned out wonderfully.

Vicky & Andrea are coming to visit this weekend. They are arriving on Friday and staying until Sunday morning. Guess that means it is time to clean the spare bedrooms out!

Did A LOT of baking the last few weeks. I made peanut butter fudge, mocha chocolate chip cookies, peanut brittle with a layer of dark chocolate on the back, super gooey chocolate drops, no bake cookeis, homemade hot chocolate mix w/ homemade marshmallows, key lime pie...and I am sure there is more, but I do not remember. They were given out to the neighbors and some people at work.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Be safe and enjoy your new year's celebrations!

Bunch of nothing

Well as Stacy told ya I spent 3 days in Kentucky. We were in the Danial Boon National forest working on a School. None of us really wanted to go but once we got there and seen the land scape and smelled the fresh air It was like I would not want to be anywhere else. It being 80 out helped, along with the scope of work was real easy. This whole last week with a lot of time off of work due to rain i spent most the week loading up this cool hard drive that Dave got me up with music. About 90 hrs so far!! Not sure what to do on Christmas Kinda weird not seeing family. But on the other hand the thought of traveling after all we have done this summer Ft Wayne, buying a house in Dayton and other trips. My road legs if there is such a thing are gone. On Wednesday I'm going to a red wings game in Columbus should be a great game. Chad (aka Muffin) a guy i work with is going with me. We should have a great time. He makes me laugh every day that i have known him. In this pic Chad wanted a jail house photo. Looks like one to me minus the Bars. Chad is knealing and troy is the one standing up.

Hello!!

Well, it has been a busy week. We had Christmas with Ed's folks on the 9th. (Pictures to follow soon) They are heading to Hawaii today and will not be back until January. We had a really good time hanging out with the Lebbon family. Ed got a massively huge external hard drive from his sister's family. He is so thrilled with it, I cannot get him away from the computer. He is migrating all of our music and pictures to this hard drive so that we can free up space on the computer. He has already put about 12 hours of music on it. I got the awesome Magic Bullet, as seen on TV. I have not used it yet, but it will probably get a work out this weekend. I am doing a lot of Christmas baking. Ed is leaving town tomorrow for work. They are headed to Kentucky.

Mouth Pain

Well, I woke up Friday with what I thought was a toothache. Made a dentist appointment for Monday morning and discovered that there is nothing wrong with my tooth. Thank goodness, since I was worried I would need a root canal. It turns out I have a gum infection due to improper brushing and not flossing like I should. I had to go back in today for a 1 hour appointment so they could do a debridment of my teeth/gums - removing all tartar/calcium build-up. Needless to say, it HURT. I am so sore, it feels like my whole mouth is one big toothache. I have to go in again in a few weeks so they can do it one more time. Lesson of the day?? Brush and floss your teeth 3 times a day. Do not end up like me, it is worth the extra time to floss to save yourself the pain that could ensue at a later date.

solder

Well there were 4 leaky valves and the ball type shut off could not be fixed. So I had to remove it and solder in a new one. After draining the water heater and moving it to get to the main shut off GRR, I learned a couple things - like never heat up a pipe with valves closed. It seems the expanding air needs some where to go. What a noise that made when you blow up a 3/4 inch piece of pipe. I ran for cover I had no clue what happened. Well I will never do that again. I must have done a good job because it has not leaked yet! The other 3 just got new O rings but need to be replaced. That's another day though. Now lets go UCLA!!!!!

This is a fun one

Yesterday Stacy and I noticed that the floor in the downstairs bathroom was warping. After thinking about it today I decided it had to be water damage. I looked in the furnace/ac/hot water heater/ main water shut off/coat closet/. Sure enuff I have not 1 but 3 leaky shut off valves. These 3 were brought to the front so you could turn the water off with out having to get to the main. Which is unreachable. You can tell they have had this problem before because of missing drywall in the closet near the shut off valve. I really do not want to go that route because to fix the warped subfloor I need to remove the toilet and the sink. I think that will be enuff work in itself. Well, not sure how I am going to shut off the main water yet so wish me luck..

Busy Vacation

Well, we had a vacation, but it does not feel like it. I think I need a vacation to recover! We left for Michigan on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Lansing at 5pm. Ed managed to get pulled over by an Ohio State Trooper for doing 71 in a 55 zone....he got the full 16 over. Why? Probably because he was wearing his Michigan hat. Wednesday night we headed to Reno's West and met up with Ed's friends from high school. My friend Barb, from law school, met us up there, too. We stayed for about 3 hours getting caught up with everyone. Got to see pictures of Jeff & Kari's twins, Jack and Brandon. They are 13 weeks old and beautiful.

On Thursday, we got up and headed to Kalamazoo. We stayed at my mom's for a couple of hours and then headed to Edwin's house in Galesburg. We stayed there for about 3 hours and then headed back to Lansing. Ed had a poker game to get to. On Friday, I actually did a little Christmas shopping, but I waited until the afternoon. In and out of Target with exactly what I wanted. We had Thanksgiving with Ed's family on Friday afternoon and were joined by our brother-in-law's dad, Jim. It was a good time. We spent Friday night relaxing and playing a little poker. We headed back to Ohio on Saturday morning.

We spent Sunday getting up some Christmas lights. However, we still need an extension cord before we can light it all up. Look for some pictures!

Gone Again

Well, Ed left today for Ft. Wayne, again. Seems like a weird time for them to go out of town, since it is a holiday week. Justice and I will be stopping in Ft. Wayne on Wednesday to pick him up on our way to Lansing. We will be in Michigan for a few days, trying to fit in a visit to as many people as we can. It is going to be one big slumber party and Mom & Dad's. Dave, Cathie, Nate, Madelyn, Emily, Ed, Justice and me are all staying there. It is like deja vu, except this time it is for fun!

Ridiculous!

This was one of those times where I wish I carried my camera with me every place I went. Ed & I went to Best Buy the other night so that we could get a router for the internet so he could hook up his Xbox Live. So, we pull into the parking lot and what do we see? A tent city - people hanging out in tents on the sidewalk of Best Buy. Why? To get Play Station 3. How retarded is that? Keep in mind that on this particular night it was raining and in the 40s. It is times like these that I seriously wonder about the intelligence of the human population.

Sad News

Legendary coach, Bo Schembechler passed away today at the age of 77. I can just imagine the discussions going on. Will the Wolverines use this to bolster them to vitory or will this lead to their defeat? I believe this will inspire them to put an ever bigger whooping on the buckeyes! GO BLUE!!!!

Yes, more jokes

Q: What’s the difference between a Buckeye and a carp?

A: One is a bottom-feeding, scum sucker, and the other is a fish.

Q: Where was O.J. hiding right before the famous white Bronco chase?

A: On The Ohio State University campus. That’s the last place you would find a football player.

Q: Why do Buckeye fans keep their diplomas on their dashboards?

A: So they can park in handicap spaces.

Q: Do you know why The Ohio State University Football team should change its name to the "Opossums"?

A: Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Q: So did you hear Tressel lost his playbook this week?

A: He was very upset too.... he hadn’t even finished coloring it in yet...

Thank you goes to www.buckeyessuck.com

9. Both Marilyn Chambers and Maurice Clarett prefer oral exams

8. Ohio State players are proof of reincarnation, you can't get that stupid in one lifetime

7. Between Ohio State and Cheerios, only one belongs in a bowl

6. OJ Simpson moved to Columbus because everyone there has the same DNA

5. Ohio State cheerleaders and Ohio State football both suck for four quarters

4. Ohio State fans smell so blind people can hate them too

3. The only sign of intelligent life in Columbus is a road sign that says: Ann Arbor 190 miles

Stacy jumps right in on the back door action

Today with the cold starting to roll in and a day off of work I decided to install our new door that we bought a long time ago. I have never installed a door before, and this was a tough one to start on. First of all the door that was in there was chopped down the kick plate was under the sub floor plus the width was to small by about 5 inches. It was getting more air though it then most windows. I was not going to pay 500 dollars for a special order door. So at first we tore a big hole in the wall, then went and bought some wood and a new saw for me. working with many circular saws I have always liked the Milwaukee saw. All home depot had was the Milwaukee HD saw, darn huh!! All in all with lots of hard work and some laughs we got er done. with about 1 min of daylight left. 1 down 2 to go..

Back for a few days

I got back from Ft Wayne the other day, to see it did not take long for my spot in bed to be taken over by justice. He was not happy when i asked him to move . Well it looks like a big show down will be going down in a couple weeks. The prospect of #2 Mich matching up with #1 Ohio St. It has made work interesting to say the least. GO BLUE!!!! Me and Stacy went to see Ralphie May at the green last night. The Green is a really cool mall here in Dayton, which has a funny bone comedy club in it. The mall is a newly built town just for shopping. The comics had a field day about this. Before we went to the show we ate at the cheese cake factory. It was a lot of fun just me and my wonderful wife. Today we cleaned the garage and found out my car wont fit in it. What sense does that make grrrrrrrr Ohio?

Life

You never know where life will take you. Here I am in Ohio, 4 1/2 hours from my friends and family. Ed had to give up the job he has had for 12 years and start over in a new company. We both had to give up the friends we had - not really give up, but leave. We find it hard to meet new friends. We both work all day and when we get home, we have so much to do around the house, that we have no time to go out and meet new people. At my job, there are alot of people my age. However, they are single or, if married, have children. Am I whining? Maybe a little. Life is hard - sometimes I wish I was a child where my only concern was whether I could get my parents to let me stay up past my normal bedtime.

Weekend

Finally, a weekend to just be. This is the first weekend in quite awhile that I have been able to just relax. Daddy is visiting from Kalamazoo and....Ed is home!! Ed did have to work today, but he was home in time to see the Steelers win.

I made cinnamon apple bread, planted 118 bulbs in the gardens and made dinner. Sounds hectic, but cooking/baking and gardening are relaxing to me.

Many Emotions

What a rollercoaster of emotions we have been on this weekend. On Friday, I drove to Kalamazoo to spend the weekend with my best friend, Kimmer, for her birthday. I took her to Red Lobster. Little did she know, I had a little surprise up my sleeve - more than one. I arranged to have our friends Cathy and JoLynn meet us there and Kimmer was quite shocked to be met by them and a birthday balloon bouquet!! Then, on Saturday morning, Kimmer's mom, Jean, and friend, Lynn, arranged a surprise party at Kansas City Dipping Grill. To say Kimmer was shocked when she walked in and 30 people yelled "SURPRISE!!!" is an understatement! Pictures will follow.

Unfortunately, we also received some bad news. Our brother-in-law's mother, Lynn, has been battling pancreatic cancer for 11 months. She lost the battle Friday night around 11pm. Lynn has touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. I drove from Kalamazoo to Ft. Wayne, Indiana today to get Ed from work and then we drove here to Lansing to be with family. Visitation is today and the memorial service will be tomorrow at 11am. To learn more about Lynn, her life and her family, please visit Dave's blog at: www.davekurt.blogspot.com

Team Building

Yesterday was my first experience with Team Building Day. At my job, we are broken up into 9 teams of around 20 people each with one Team Leader/Manager. Twice a year, the team spends the morning getting training and then we leave for lunch and a group activity. We went to a place called Young's Dairy in Xenia, OH. It is about a 20 minute drive. It is a dairy farm where they make ice cream, but it is also a great place to go for a great day. They have a corn maze, batting cages, 2 mini golf courses and a driving range. I went to the driving range for the first time and did pretty good after a lesson. Today, I am sore - apparently there are muscles not used everyday that are used when driving a ball. I loved it and can not wait to go again.

Sad

Today is a sad day. I was reading through my brother-in-law's blog www.davekurt.blogspot.com He has been writing about his mother, Lynn. She has been battling pancreatic cancer for almost a year, and the battle is nearing its end. The memories he is writing about are heartwrenching. I admire the strength and love of this family.

Justice at the park

Today I took Justice to the park on the way I took this pic of our street. I like the view from here you just don't get these views in flat land country. I have been in FT Wayne for the last 2 weeks. I hope we can have this job done in a few more weeks. Why I was in Ft Wayne I got really board on a rain day and seen a car dealership with 40 2006 mustangs on there lot!! Loved them all, so I called Stacy and she said no we need something that can fit the dog. Plus added that I don't need a new car. So I went next door to the jeep dealership and bought her a car! What could she say she needs a car right? plus I love the jeep Cherokee anyway. Never the less what a surprise from me. I love seeing her smile driving this 2003 jeep.

I have added a few new pictures - finally!! This is our new house in Ohio. We have a bi-level with 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths and a two car garage. We have a huge back deck which we sit out on every night. Our neighbors, Barron and Elaine, have 2 beautiful dobermans, Obie and Tasia. I also added a picture from Andrea's high school graduation - hard to believe my little munchkin is done with school. She started at Western Michigan University and is a member of the marching band. Ed is gone again

Well, Ed is in Indiana again for work. He was home Sunday and Monday. Kim came for a visit - it was nice having a familiar face in the house. Work is going well. I begin training for a specialized group on the 18th. I will take some pictures of the new house and try to get them up before the end of the week.

Update

Just a little update on the Lebbons. We are all moved in! However, quite a few things are still in boxes. Ed is working in Indiana for the week. He seems to like his new job. I am still loving my job. I really enjoy interacting over the phone with our customers and helping them work through their legal questions. I am talking to law students, law firms (big and small), etc. Justice took awhile to adjust, but I think he likes the new neighborhood. There is a park at the end of our street and we go there every night when I get out of work for a nice walk.

The stories of the move were NOT exaggerated. It was awful, and Budget Truck Rental is not a company that I would recommend doing business with. Their customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE!! They were unwilling to work with us to take care of the problem. We were supposed to have our truck at 9am on Saturday and we never got one until 11am on Sunday, after Ed and his dad had to drive an hour and a half to pick it up. Come to find out, the truck had been available in Livonia all day Saturday!! What did Budget say??? Too bad for you, not our problem.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Life is moving along quickly. I spent the weekend in Lansing packing up the house. We still do not have a date for the move to Ohio, but we will keep everyone informed. Ed finished painting the outside of the house and it looks fabulous!

Training

Training is long - 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I know...that is what my job will be. But, 8 hours of classroom time with 7 people all learning at different speeds tends to drag. I am heading home for a 4 day weekend. The weekend will be spent packing up the house - we have sold our house in Lansing and purchased a house here in Ohio. Stay tuned for updates.

Still Here

We are still here. Stacy is living and working in Ohio for LexisNexis. The search for a new house is on and the hopes of selling the current house are high. Justice is a year old as of today and he is huge. On May 2nd, he weighed in at 87.9 pounds!! Ed is working hard and he and Justice are enjoying their time together. Stacy is coming home this weekend.
