Christmas 2011, Part 1

Our Christmas is very low key this year. The three of us are hanging out and relaxing. We got up to open presents & then watch a little television. We will be pigging out later on prime rib and apple pie.

My new book by one of my favorite authors. I love the Scarpetta series.

Ed got me a Garmin nuvi. I am super excited to use this.

I bought Ed a Red Wings hockey jersey. I think he likes it. :-) I also bought him a sampler pack of flavored coffees. So far, he has tried Coffee Cake & Banana Nut Fudge.

Tailgating

Finally got a chance to put our picnic basket to use. We got it for our wedding & never really had the chance to use it. It was perfect.

Monday Night Football

Went to the Monday Night Chiefs game a few weeks back. It was Halloween & loads of fun. We did a bit of tailgating first. Our seats were pretty great, as you can see from the pictures below. We are Chiefs fans, as long as they are not playing Pittsburgh or Buffalo. It was a tense game up to the last minute. Crazy is more like it.

Since it was Halloween, there were lots of people in costume. Including my favorite - Chris Farley has risen from the dead. This guy was amazing. He looked, sounded & acted like Chris Farley. Everyone was trying to get their picture taken with him. He was definitely my favorite character of the night.

Beautiful Vegas

Hung outside the MGM Grand waiting for my room to be ready. It was HOT, but so pretty. I stayed out by the pool, in the shade. They are having their hottest week of the year, it will be 111 tomorrow.

Our Bilbo's Pizza Party

Thanks to everyone who was able to join us for some food and great conversation. I am sorry that I did not get pictures of everyone. However, I am looking for pictures from those that had their own cameras. Who was there? Dad, Barb, Mom, Lori, Kimmer, Mrs. B., Weezy, Darryl, Russ, Cathy, Emma and Madison. We miss those that could not make it. I had a blast and so many laughs. It was really great catching up with everyone. I am just sad that it was so short.

Rough Weekend

Well, I did not get any workouts in. It is pretty much impossible to workout when Ed home. Running? Forget about it. The weather was way too nasty. However, I was semi-careful with what I ate. We went out and I tried to be healthy. At home, I snacked less. In fact, for the 4th of July, I roasted a pork loin with zucchini, yellow squash & potatoes. I only had a few pieces of potato. Dessert? A fruit salad of green grapes, red plums & strawberries.

Today, I have had a protein drink, Greek yogurt (Clementine flavored) and a small bag of Chex Mix (210 calories).

I have to travel this week, so lots of treadmill time for me. The hard part? Not snacking on junk during my drives to Omaha & Des Moines & back to KC. Thank goodness I have the fruit and some protein bars to take with me.

July 1st is the 1st Step

So, I saw this picture of myself and am disgusted. I am so fat & gross and I decided to take control. This morning, I got up at 6am and ran a mile. Then, I came home, drank some Naked Juice, Berry Monster, and then did a Jillian Michaels' DVD - 30 Day Shred. It is time for me to be in control of me. So, this site just became the place to "Watch Stacy Transform." I will try to update everyday.

Here's hoping Ed can be supportive. Not sure how often he will eat salad, chicken, rice, veggies.

Update

I was reminded today that it has been awhile since I last updated this site. Unfortunately, work has gotten in the way of everything. Summer Associate season is getting ready to be in full swing, which means that I am going to be even busier.

Ed has spent the last week in Ohio fixing the house. The realtor was showing it and found water in the basement. So, Ed took the week off of work and drove off last Sunday. We are hoping to have him back home today. He has been very busy and has gotten quite a bit done.

Justice and I have just been hanging out, taking walks, baking, and watching television. I recently made whole wheat strawberry scones, chicken & dumplings and peanut butter chocolate chip biscotti.

It has been cold the last couple of days, but it is so much better than the 90 degree humidity.

Right to Free Speech

I am going to exercise my right to free speech. If I offend, I am sorry, but I am learning I have to say what is in my heart, or it just eats at me.

So, we buried Osama bin Laden at sea. Why? To respect the traditions of Islam. Are you freaking kidding me???!!! I understand that our country was founded on the premise of freedom of religion. I understand that we should be better than those that condemn us because of our religious beliefs. Unfortunately, my heart can not stand by it. He did nothing but kill and torture and terrorize because of his "beliefs." For that reason, I cannot stand behind our President and his decision to respect bin Laden's beliefs & traditions. It makes me sick that we are so tolerant. We lost thousands of innocent people and service men & women who sacrificed their lives. Yet, we try to be respectful of the one person who was behind all this death.

New Shower Surround Disaster

We had to have the shower surround replaced in our apartment. Before we moved in, they did not replace it, they painted over it. It started flaking off and looking like crap. I wish they would have just left it alone. Instead, we get the below crap. How great is it when the maintenance guy finishes and says "Feel free to tell the office it is a crappy job. I told them I do not like doing shower surrounds. At least you can take a shower this weekend." SERIOUSLY??? I could have done a much better job. Roanoke West Apartments are crap.




Even I know that when you mark something to cut it, you do it on the back where it can't be seen.

Got up to get a drink of water and came back to bed to find these guys sound asleep. Kind of look alike, eh?

8 Years

Hard to believe it has been 8 years since we said "I do." It has been a lot of hard work, but so worth it. I think we are just glad to finally be living in the same city. Tonight, we went to Plaza III Steakhouse. It is a place we would probably never eat at without a special occasion, and a Groupon. So, we celebrated our life together with some great food.
