Dayton Air Show

Well, we decided to go to the Dayton Air Show yesterday. It was our first in a very long time. We saw some amazing planes on the ground and in the air. We ate some delicious food, Ed had his first funnel cake! Then, tragedy struck. A plane that was performing crashed into the runway. There was a blackhawk helicopter on site that tried to get the pilot to the hospital, but he died en route. His name was Jim Leroy and he leaves behind a wife and young son.

It's Official...

I have the best husband in the world!! He went to Meijer last night and stood in line to buy me the new Harry Potter book! He said the line was huge and that he had trouble not laughing in people's faces. Adults were dressed up like witches and wizards. I have not started reading it yet. I am finishing up the books from the library first. So, no spoilers!!!!!!

My first golf lesson was great. I learned that I have a pretty natural back swing, unfortunately, the down swing sucks. So, I will be working on that before my next lesson.

Tomorrow, we are going canoeing/kayaking on the Little Miami River. It will be my first time.

The hits just keep on coming...

Okay, here is my life for the last week and a half.

My Uncle Abe's cancer, which we thought was successfully treated, has gone into his bones. It is a type of bone cancer that does NOT respond to treatment. The doctors have given him about 16 months.

My dad is having surgery on his elbow. Apparently, he popped a tendon in his elbow. The surgery has been scheduled for Monday, August 13th.

My other Uncle, Arend, is getting shipped out with the Navy. He is going to Djibouti, in Africa. Now, I had no idea that we even had troops there. So, I am hoping to learn as much as I can. Therefore, I have a mission for everyone that reads this...please fill me in on what you know. I am freaking out. I cried for 20 minutes when I heard and I want to just keep crying. I know that this is probably safer than Iraq, but this still sucks!!!

So, needless to say, I am ready to curl up in a ball and forget that the world exists, even if for a few hours.

Ed's mom is heading to Japan. She is going to be teaching there for a few months. I am very excited for her. My friend, Kimmer, spent some time there and was nice enough to give mom a few pointers.

Oh, I am having my very first golf lesson on Saturday morning at 9am. I am looking forward to it. It will be nice to learn how to golf and then Ed & I can hit the courses together.

Newport Aquarium

The Newport Aquarium is pretty cool. Kimmer and I spent a few hours in Newport, Kentucky. We went to the aquarium, sweet shop and wandered the shops at Newport on the Levee.

On the 4th, Ed & I spent the day planting flowers in the front garden. It looks pretty good. In fact, as I was getting out of the car today, a lady walking down the sidewalk stopped me. She said she just wanted to let me know that the garden looks great. That made me feel really good.
