Military Quote of the Day: "When I joined the military it was illegal to be homosexual, then it became optional. I'm getting out before it becomes mandatory."
Walt Whitman: "Be curious, not judgmental."
Harry S. Truman: "It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job: it's a depression when you lose yours."
Conan O'Brien: "Scientists say because of global warming they expect the world's oceans to rise four and a half feet. The scientists say this can mean only one thing - Gary Coleman is going to drown."

Ruminating
I have been in KC now for almost 9 months. I really thought that we would be living in the same house by now. I thought I would know my job better. I thought I would be better, healthier, skinnier. UGH! I am thinking that I need to quit my job. Unfortunately, in this economy, there is not a plethera of jobs out there for me to get. If anyone has the winning numbers for the lotto, let me know.

Happy Valentine's Day

To the love of my life - though we may be far apart, you are always in my heart. I will love you forever, and always be grateful that we are together. I do not know why you chose me, but am so glad that you did & am eternally happy.
Okay, now that the requisite rhyming is done...I love you. I am so glad that you are mine. I cannot imagine what life would be like without you. Please know that you are in my thoughts every single day.

Haiti
The devastation is amazing and heartbreaking in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Google Maps shows satellite images before and after of certain areas, and it made me want to cry. It is unbelievable that there is so much devastation and death and sorrow. Please, I know that times are hard for everyone, but I am asking you to find a way to donate any amount you can. You can text "Haiti" to 90999 and $20 will be added to your next cell phone bill. Before you decide to donate, please make sure that you are donating to a legitimate charity. Go to this website, to visit Charity Navigator's homepage. They do the research on which charities are legitimate. Unfortunately, there are a lot of very despicable people out there who are setting up false charities to make money off of this tragedy.

If I Were a Painter...(stolen from Munchkin)
If I were a month, I’d be April.
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday.
If I were a time of day, I’d be 3 pm.
If I were a planet, I’d be Saturn.
If I were a sea animal, I’d be a manta ray.
If I were a direction, I’d be Southwest.
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a Love Sac.
If I were a liquid, I’d be a tear.
If I were a gemstone, I’d be an sapphire.
If I were a tree, I’d be a willow.
If I were a tool, I’d be a hammer.
If I were a flower, I’d be a daisy.
If I were a kind of weather, I’d be a spring rain.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a saxophone.
If I were a color, I’d be sky blue.
If I were an emotion, I’d be wishful.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a strawberry.
If I were a sound, I’d be a raindrop falling off a leaf.
If I were an element, I’d be water.
If I were a car, I’d be a Jeep.
If I were a food, I’d be dessert.
If I were a place, I’d be a beach in the bahamas.
If I were a material, I’d be cotton.
If I were a taste, I’d be sour.
If I were a scent, I’d be freshly mowed grass.
If I were an animal, I’d be a tiger.
If I were an object, I’d be a well-read book.
If I were a body part, I’d be neck.
If I were a facial expression, I’d be a smile.
If I were a song, I’d be "Sugar, Sugar."
If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be impractical red pumps.
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday.

New Year, New Dreams

This is the year that Ed & I will finally live together! When that will happen, I have no idea, but it WILL!! I am looking for a new job. I like the one I have, but it is time for me to use my degree, actually practice law. It is what I went to school for, so it is what I should do. I have sent my resume to a couple of places, in Ohio & Michigan. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
Ed & Justice are hanging out in Dayton, loving the snow! I know that Ed is anxious to get back to work, but not with the same company. His current boss is not that easy to work for, so he is also looking elsewhere.

We are really trying to get back to Michigan and be closer to friends and family.

Ruminations

I have been sitting here the last few days, thinking over the events of the last year. A lot of stuff has happened, both good and bad. There are things to be thankful for, and things I wanted to curse God for. Heck, there were days when I questioned the existence of God. Yep, I said it. God pissed me off a few times. But, he also provided some wonderful and exciting events in my life in 2009.
I have lost family members to cancer. I have lost family members to stupid decisions and stubborness. I have lost friends, and I have gained new friends. I have reconnected with family that I have not spoken to, or spoken of, in over 10 years.
Ed finally moved back to Ohio, only for me to move to Kansas City. It is a new job, a new experience, and a new headache. We are trying to find a way to get us back in the same house, even if it means I quit my job and try to find something new. In our almost 7 years of marriage, I am pretty sure that we have spent more time apart than we have together. That makes for a strain on the relationship, but it makes us appreciate our time together.
Now, we move forward. There will be no looking back. There will be changes, and yet things will stay the same. May 2010 be all that you hope for it to be.

New Stuff

Woo Hoo!! My new mixer is here, so I get to start baking and cooking again. I am uber excited!!

Love these - they fold away or squish together to take up less space. They are temp safe up to 650 degrees, just in case I leave them too close to the stove.

My new mixing bowls. I love the colors. Plus, they match the cups and spoons above.

Pretty sure these will be put away til next year. Not even sure I will use them, they are so cute!
