Many Emotions

What a rollercoaster of emotions we have been on this weekend. On Friday, I drove to Kalamazoo to spend the weekend with my best friend, Kimmer, for her birthday. I took her to Red Lobster. Little did she know, I had a little surprise up my sleeve - more than one. I arranged to have our friends Cathy and JoLynn meet us there and Kimmer was quite shocked to be met by them and a birthday balloon bouquet!! Then, on Saturday morning, Kimmer's mom, Jean, and friend, Lynn, arranged a surprise party at Kansas City Dipping Grill. To say Kimmer was shocked when she walked in and 30 people yelled "SURPRISE!!!" is an understatement! Pictures will follow.

Unfortunately, we also received some bad news. Our brother-in-law's mother, Lynn, has been battling pancreatic cancer for 11 months. She lost the battle Friday night around 11pm. Lynn has touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. I drove from Kalamazoo to Ft. Wayne, Indiana today to get Ed from work and then we drove here to Lansing to be with family. Visitation is today and the memorial service will be tomorrow at 11am. To learn more about Lynn, her life and her family, please visit Dave's blog at: www.davekurt.blogspot.com

Team Building

Yesterday was my first experience with Team Building Day. At my job, we are broken up into 9 teams of around 20 people each with one Team Leader/Manager. Twice a year, the team spends the morning getting training and then we leave for lunch and a group activity. We went to a place called Young's Dairy in Xenia, OH. It is about a 20 minute drive. It is a dairy farm where they make ice cream, but it is also a great place to go for a great day. They have a corn maze, batting cages, 2 mini golf courses and a driving range. I went to the driving range for the first time and did pretty good after a lesson. Today, I am sore - apparently there are muscles not used everyday that are used when driving a ball. I loved it and can not wait to go again.

Sad

Today is a sad day. I was reading through my brother-in-law's blog www.davekurt.blogspot.com He has been writing about his mother, Lynn. She has been battling pancreatic cancer for almost a year, and the battle is nearing its end. The memories he is writing about are heartwrenching. I admire the strength and love of this family.

Weekend

Went back to Lansing this weekend. It was really great seeing family and friends. We stopped into the old neighborhood on Shady Oak and spent a few moments with our friends. Justice got to play with Sandy, his best doggy friend.
