Been Thinking

I am not even sure how to put this into words. I feel that life is taking a new direction and I am meant to do something that makes a difference in other people's lives. I know that it makes no sense, but...here is an example. I went out to dinner tonight with a couple of friends. There were quite a few leftovers, so I took them with me to eat the next couple of days. It was a lot of food - mashed potatoes, cinnamon rolls, 3 pieces of fried chicken. This was a delicious meal, and I could have completely stuffed myself with another full fried chicken dinner. After dropping the girls at their car, I headed home. On one of the street corners, a homeless guy was asking for food, not money. I gave him one of my leftover cinnamon rolls. I got back to my apartment, changed my clothes, and then headed back out to my car - with the entire bag of leftovers. I drove in a big circle, just to get back to the same corner. The guy was so grateful and kept saying "God Bless You." And, I felt that this was important, and this was...I wish I had the words. I am not trying to make myself look good by writing this for all to see. I feel like I just had to get out the feelings and now realize that there are no words to explain how I felt. All I knew was that someone needed that food more than I did, and I knew that I would have not been able to fall asleep until I had delivered that food. I just knew that it was something I needed to do. I am not sure if you will understand, I am not sure I understand it myself.

Headed out to see WaterFire this evening with a couple of friends and was quite impressed. Brush Creek and the Plaza resembled Venice, Italy. There were fire dancers, fabric dancers and live opera on the water. It was a beautiful sight and one I hope to share with Ed next year. I did not have my camera, which I deeply regret. This is, apparently, a show that occurs in multiple cities across the country. If you have a chance to see it, I highly suggest planning an evening of it.

Pickle Progression

We went to lunch and we all got pickles with our sandwiches. Now, I love a good kosher dill pickle, so I popped the pickle slice in my mouth. It was NOT a kosher dill, it was gross, and I could not wait to get it out of my mouth. Of course, the girls thought it was hilarious to capture the moment!

Great Weekend

Mr. Freeze

I looked out my window this morning, it was in the low 30s and there was a bit of frost on the car windows. It is cold, but it is beautiful. The sun is shining and I am looking forward to enjoying the day. Not sure what I am going to do, since it is a little too cold for me to wander the farmer's market or head to the zoo. Besides, those are a couple of the things I plan on doing when Cathy and Laura get here on Thursday!!!

Fall Decorating

Found some gel window clings and decided to start doing a little fall decorating. Thinking of heading to Hobby Lobby or Michaels for some more stuff. Contemplated buying some small pumpkins and squash, as I have a pretty big windowsill, but scared that they might start going bad before I remember to remove them.

Brown v Board of Education

While in Topeka, I visited the Monroe School where Brown v Board was instituted. It was a moving experience, and I cannot wait to show it to people who are coming to visit. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Today, September 24th, marks the 6th annually celebrated punctuation day.. So, don't be afraid to mark it up!!!!!! And please don't confused it with emoticon day, that was September 19th!!! ;P
