Fireworks!!

Labor Day

Wow, what a night! We headed to Cincy/Newport to watch the 33rd annual Labor Day fireworks show put on my 102.7. It was packed and there was a lot of people watching going on.

Game Day

The boys were very excited about opening day for Michigan. I was disappointed at the result, but glad that Ed was excited. It was a good day.

Kansas City Zoo

Decided to take the day and head to the zoo. It was my first time there and I am pretty excited about living so close. I became a member, so I can go for free as often as I want. They are building a Polar Bear exhibit that will open next summer. I took a LOT of pictures, so here are a few.

Chicago

Got to spend a night in Chicago for work. Tried to walk to Lake Michigan from my hotel. Started out at Millenium Park and saw the Cloud Gate - which looks like a big silver lima bean! It started raining, and by the time I got to DuSable Harbor, it was pouring. So, I started walking back to my hotel. Could not find a cab to save my life, so walked and walked and got drenched.







The next day, we had a meeting in the Sears Tower. I took a picture of the wall of flags.

Is that really necessary??

Not sure if you can see the label, but it says "May contain nut traces." REALLY??? It is a bag of peanut squares!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Move

The move was long, 11 hours, and boring!! Being in a car for that long, alone, is excruciating!! I had Justice, but it's not like he could carry on a conversation. And, he got bored after awhile. He enjoyed the stops at the rest areas, as he could run around with Ed for a bit. We got in late, and only unpacked what we needed. The next morning, Ed unloaded the trailer and then we hung out waiting for the cable guy.

On Sunday, we took Justice to Shawnee Mission Park in Kansas. The state line is only a few blocks from my apartment. This park is AMAZING!! It has mountain bike trails, a disc golf course, an off-leash dog park, a lake for boating and swimming, and even an RC Airplane area. Justice loved being off his leash and playing with other dogs. There is a part of the lake that is for the dogs and there were so many playing, it was great. However, as you can see from the pics above, Justice would go in until his belly touched the water and then he was done.

They stayed here til early Wednesday morning. It was sad seeing them go and I felt bad that they had to make the trip again. Now, it is just me in my itty bitty studio apartment.

Crazy Schedule

It has been crazy in the Lebbon household. I have been flying to KC every week for 3 days, staying in a hotel, meeting clients, eating room service, trying to find an apartment, etc. I am ready for life to be settled again. Unfortunately, it is going to be awhile. I am moving to KC on Friday, July 31st. My new address will be sent by email to those who want/need it. Please keep your fingers crossed that our household will soon be in just one location.

Holiday Weekend

What a great weekend! Mom and Dad Lebbon came down to visit and we had so much fun. Friday night, we all headed to Dorothy Lane Market to pick out dinner. Mom chose a prosciutto & provolone stuffed chicken breast and the rest of us got steaks. We also picked up a Thai Cucumber Salad and some Artisan bread to dip in olive oil and dipping spices. We just hung out on the deck grilling and eating and laughing. It was great.


Saturday morning, we got up early and headed to the National Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. We wanted to be there when they opened so we could sign up for the Presidential Tour. This tour is a first come first served tour of all of the Air Force One planes they have. They are in a different hanger on the base. We saw the Independence, which FDR rode on, just once.

We also saw the plane to first have the call sign "Air Force One." It is the one that brought President Kennedy's body back from Dallas.

It was a long day and so we had an easy evening of playing cards and then watching the fireworks from the front yard. It was really great having them come visit. It will probably be the last time I get a chance to hang out with them until after the move to KC. We will see eachother again in December in the Bahamas.

Kansas City Pics

This was one of the many statues in the Plaza. It made me laugh when I saw it.

This is the JC Nichols Memorial Fountain at the entrance to Country Club Plaza. Over 30 restaurants and around 100 shops. It is a great place to walk around.

Did not have time to go to the zoo, but at least I know how easy it is to find!

I had a really great trip in KC. I flew in Tuesday morning and drove around for awhile. It is kind of hard to get lost, as there is a highway (435) that does a big circle around the city. I stayed at the Marriott Country Club Plaza in a beautiful room. The entire hotel had recently been renovated.

I finally got to meet my boss, Patty, in person. I have worked for her since April and all interview, conversations, training have been by phone and live meeting via the computers. Pickin her up from the airport was fun, as I had no clue what she looked like. She is FABULOUS!!! I had a blast spending the time with her. My new job is going to be very time intensive. I was exhausted after client meetings on Wednesday.

Thursday, we had lunch downtown in the Power & Light District at Gordon Biersch. It is a brewery and the food is great. It is just one of the many restaurants that surrounds a plaza that has a stage with free music most nights. When we were leaving, they were doing sound check for Dierks Bentley! He was giving a free concert that night. This area has a roof and heat lamps and fire pits and comfy seating. There are multiple restaurants with outdoor seating so you can enjoy a meal and music at the same time.
