Honor Guard

When I flew back to KC, I was greeted by an Honor Guard - not for me, of course! They were waiting for some WW2 vets to return from a trip to DC. It was quite a sight. I took a few pictures, of course.

Graduation

Well, Andrea is now a graduate of Western Michigan University. I am so very proud of her. She is a smart girl and will achieve great things. She has such a big heart, and I look forward to seeing the path that she has chosen for her future.

Cubs Game

Work took us to a the Chicago Cubs vs Washington Nationals game after a long day of meetings. We were in the Sheffield building, that had nice roof seating overlooking Wrigley field. It was COLD - in the 30s with a brisk breeze. Here are a few pics of the field from my seat. Oh, the Cubs lost this one.

Lake Waucomis

Spent a weekend at Lake Waucomis, and woke up to this on the deck. I tried to get closer, but this is the best I could get. Then, I got it as it flew off, can you see it over the water?? You have to look close, but it is there.

The Supreme Court's Questionable Decision

By clicking on the title of this post, you will be able to read the full article on the USSC's questionable decision on the distribution of videos depicting dog fighting. I just do not understand how far they are going to let people stretch this 1st Amendment protection. I am so sick and tired of people interpreting the Constitution and other rules to suit them and their evil, disgusting, and despicable actions. This country is turning into something I am having a really hard time being proud of. I used to love being able to say that I am American. Now, there is so much negative things that come along with that. What in the hell is wrong with you people??

Lake Waucomis

I got to spend an evening with the Smiths, Freemans, and Dave on Sunday. We hung out at Lake Waucomis and just relaxed. It is a peaceful area, not far from the airport. I plan on spending a lot of time there this summer. Looking forward to introducing Ed & Justice to the gang.

Kalamazoo Pics

My pretty toes. Cathy, Kimmer, & I all got pedicures, and for the first time ever, I got a design on my big toes. I had quite the experience with my massage chair. The girls said I was being a little inappropriate, but man did it feel good!!

My new coat, and new hair. Cathy talked me into some blonde highlights. She is quite pushy, and never hesitated to remind me it was all about her for the weekend!

Oh my goodness, is that the 3 Meinema girls together in one place?? I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with family for a minute while in town for the wedding (those pics coming later.) I am glad that Lori & Andrea were able to be at Grandma's at the same time.

Easter

So, I was wondering if anyone else ever has these questions regarding Christian holidays. I have been questioning my faith, a LOT. My brain seems to be more analytical than in the past. I have questions, and no one to really ask them. So, here goes...

Why is Easter always on a Sunday? If he really did rise from the dead, it seems like that date should be the celebration. Why? Let us look at Christmas. This is the day people celebrate his birth, even though it has been shown that if he existed, he was born in the Spring and the date was moved to coincide with a Pagan celebration. This was done in order to protect the Christians/believers from persecution/prosecution. Why can this day of celebration be a specific date, which makes sense, while the date he "rose" is always celebrated on a Sunday?? If he did die and rise again, it happened on a specific day and that date should be what you celebrate.
